So... [21 Mar 2012|09:18pm]

This isn't InSoc related, but I figured some of you would probably appreciate my contribution to the Iron Sky propaganda front.

Much in the same vein as the "Werk It" video of several years ago, my boyfriend Patrick and I went to University of California, Berkeley, and handed out propaganda warning of the Space Nazi menace.

Music is "Achtung!" by Laibach (who have also scored the entire movie) off the album "WAT" and yes, that's the same coat I wore in the video for "Werk It." My style, let me show you it. :P

Remember a few years ago when we all found out about the Onalaska Hilltopper Show Choir singing InSoc favorites "Think" and "Peace and Love, Inc?"

I found another show choir. Another InSoc-loving show choir. Let me present to you the Burbank 2007 In Sync Show Choir.

How did you discover InSoc? [08 Apr 2010|03:43pm]

InSoc posted this question over on their Facebook. I thought I'd repost it here for us.

When did you become an fan of Information Society? Were you first exposed to InSoc's music when you heard "Running" at a dance club, "What's On Your Mind (Pure Energy)" on the radio or MTV in 1988, attended one of their live shows, or did you discover them fairly recently through a friend or by stumbling upon InSoc song clips on the internet?

Have you ever wished you could have a little bit more Beyonce with your Mr. Grimshaw?

I sure know *I* have. If you are familiar with Kurt Harland Larson's masterpiece "The Terrible Mr. Grimshaw," you may enjoy this unholy melding of that classic tune with Beyonce's undulating dance moves. EPIC! If you do not know the story of The Terrible Mr Grimshaw, I encourage you to read Kurt's comment (very bottom) explaining it, on this blog post.

NFSW language in the song. Enjoy! I laughed so hard I hurt myself when I found this.

Also, check out her Nazgul gauntlet. I totally approve.

DBA 3.0 anyone? bad press? [19 Nov 2009|10:50am]

[ mood | confused ]

Hello,

did you got the last DBA remastered? I have two questions for you:

1. track 1 "empty" have a kind of "crapped wav" at around 3mins on yours? it's the 2nd that I got, both CDs are very clean and both have the same error at the same time, seams a bad press of the CD. did you realized that?

2. they AGAIN made a mistake in the tracklisting? c'mon, it's not that difficult do copy the tracks in the same order the artist ask... or is? White Roses is in fact the last track, different of is written in the cover.

weird ha?

IT IS USELESS TO RESIST US - 20 OCTOBER 09 [22 Sep 2009|04:16am]

sayaka
Wait, what? What was that?

You refused to be satisfied with the last tasty InSoc Treats I presented! The teeming masses will not be satisfied with YouTube video of the Brasil tour, the remixes and new tracks on Modulator and all those pictures and stories about what Kurt and I did at Burning Man this year! So... you leave me no choice.

I bring you...

WAIT KRISTIN WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH THAT BOX OMG OMG OMG IT IS IT'S THE DVD

It is Useless to Resist Us

I lied, I don't have an advance copy, but It is Useless to Resist Us is slated for release on 20 OCTOBER 2009. Also, I don't think I need to mention how ecstatic it makes me to see my graphic design work on the cover of a publicly released DVD. ;)

This DVD celebrates the 25th anniversary of this hugely influential and popular electronic pop act by giving fans a full live concert, their music videos (never before released on DVD), bonus archival footage and photos, and a brand new EP, all on one disc.

The live concert took place in Philadelphia in 2008 and featured James, Paul and Kurt in fantastic form. A German film crew shot the entire show from multiple angles and captured the fantastic energy of both the band and the audience. The set list for the concert is:

01 Peace and Love, Inc.
02 Wrongful Death
03 The Seeds of Pain
04 Walking Away
05 Baby Just Wants
06 Burning Bridges
07 Think
08 Jonestown
09 Growing Up With Shiva
10 I Like The Way You Werk It
11 Run Away
12 Back in the Day (Old School Electro Version)
13 Running
14 Are ‘Friends’ Electric?
15 What’s On Your Mind (Pure Energy)

In addition to the full concert, the DVD contains all five videos released by the band during their time at Warner Records, available for the first time on DVD, taken directly from Warner’s archive masters. Bonus features include several photo montages, a video montage from their first tour of South America in the late 1980s, and a few other clips, including the infamous “Wall Street” video.

As if that wasn’t enough, the DVD also contains a full version of the band’s digital-only “Modulator” EP in MP3 format. Only available through digital download, this nine-track EP contains remixes from the Synthesizer album by such folks as Dave Aude’ and Tommie Sunshine, as well as a brand new track with Kurt on vocals (”Don’t Touch The Devil”) and a live recording of a track not previously available in stores (”Wrongful Death”).

STOLEN! [15 Aug 2009|02:51am]

sayaka
Kurt had with him a stuffed pig, "Jungle Pig," on tour in Brasil.

While on stage in Ribeirão Preto, he was STOLEN. He belongs to Kurt's best friend (and InSoc graphic designer), Kristin ([info]sayaka), and is a very important keepsake to her. Please, if you know where he is or know who has taken him, return him to his rightful owner.

He was taken from Kurt, and was last seen with someone who bought two t-shirts and admitted they'd stolen him. The pig-napper left before anybody could do anything to stop him.

Kurt is very, very upset, and Kristin is heartbroken. There is a reward - if you have any idea where he is, please contact kristin(at)insoc.org, no questions asked.

I gave him to Kurt to take on tour because I knew he'd be away from home for a long time and it would make him happy. We also had a great plan to have Jungle Pig come on stage during one of the shows. He got to have his moment in the spotlight during THREE SONGS! But then he was stolen.

He is my personal mascot, was a gift from [info]lilibat during a really difficult time in my life, and I just want him back.

I know it's a long shot. Most of you aren't even in Brasil. But I'm holding out for some sort of miracle.

Thank you.

Post your most "Insoc Moment" [12 Aug 2009|04:25am]

pyrotech_c3h8
So I pitched this to Insoc but didn't hear back on it, but I would assume they are quite busy...

For many of the hardcore fans, Insoc has not only inspired us by their music, but by their style as well. I know that I have at many times taken a photo or two that had more than a little similarity to Insoc themes as I would assume many of you have. I thought a fun contest/thread/whatever would be to post any pictures you have that would be your most "Insoc Inspired Moment"

Here are a few of mine...

This scene of course inspired by the live performance of Something In the Air as seen here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T4lyQkTRBFA

This picture inspired by Insoc's constant use of laptops and of course Vector.

That's all I've got for now, let's see yours!

Paul Robb salsa samba dances on Brasilian TV, Jim gets a smooch, and Kurt breaks out some science humor.

Epic!
